Frances E. Hountz
Roanoke- Frances E. Hountz, 92, of Roanoke, IL passed away at 5:30
am on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Apostolic Christian Home of
Roanoke.
She was born on April 23, 1920 in the family home in Roanoke to
William and Delphareta Dearmin Cox. She married Joseph M. Hountz on
June 5, 1937. He died on March 24, 1972.
Surviving are four daughters, Judy Hountz of Leeds AL; Dorothy
Guth of Lowpoint; Shirley (Steve) Nohl of East Peoria; Cheryl
Simmons of Roanoke; one son, Larry (Ronnie) Hountz of Ashburn, VA;
15 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Edward Cox;
three sisters, Minnie Volk; Litta Watts; Shirley Mitchell; one
grandson; and one great grandson.
Fran was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke
where she was part of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Fran worked as a canner at the Eureka canning factory and was a
waitress and bartender at Club 116 in Roanoke for 28 years. She
also babysat for several families in Roanoke. She loved to crochet,
cross stitch, and work with ceramics. She loved her two poodles,
FiFi and Suzette and her cats, Punkin and Sheba. Fran was a loving
mother and will be missed.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Christopher
Hughes and the Apostolic Christian Home for the loving care that
was given to their mother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 7,
2013 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke. Fr. Neri
Greskoviak will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9-10 am
before the services at the church. Burial will be in Roanoke
Township Cemetery. Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke is
handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the
Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke or to Senior World. Online
