Marlyn C. Lawrentz

Normal- Marlyn Carol Lawrentz, 72,
of Normal, left her Earthly life at 1:25 p.m., Sunday, October 14,
2012 at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal. A visitation will be
held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at
Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington. A Celebration
of Life and inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of
flowers memorials may be made to the Association for
Fronto-Temporal Degeration, Radnor Station Building 2, Suite 320,
290 King of Prussia Road, Radnor, PA 19087.

Marlyn was born September 8, 1940
in Highland Park, IL., and was the daughter of Marvin and Carolyn
(Shulkey) Lawrentz.

She was preceded in death by her
mother and father.

Survivors include one brother,
Randy Lawrentz and one sister-in-law, April Lawrentz both of
Portland, Oregon; one niece, Sera Lawrentz of Brooklyn, New York;
one nephew, Jacob Lawrentz of Baker City, Oregon; and three special
members of the "Golden Girls", Mary Ann Dibble, Janet Kuhns and
Donna Taylor of Bloomington-Normal.

Marlyn graduated from Illinois
State University in 1957 with a bachelor's degree in physical
education. The next 10 years were spent in Denver, Colorado where
she taught elementary PE, completed her Masters Degree and began
work on her Doctorate. She completed her Doctorate at Illinois
State in 1972 and accepted a position with the Department of
Educational Administration at ISU.

At ISU she created the
"Professional Practice" program which coordinated intern placements
for ISU students across the country. The uniqueness and success of
the program gave her an opportunity to travel to many other
universities to share the concept of the program. She actively
promoted Professional Practice at the local, state and federal
levels and contributed to the development of a federal grant
program. Grants written by Marlyn and her staff resulted in one and
a half million dollars to Illinois State University to help fund
students and faculty within the Professional Practice program. She
retired from ISU in 1995.

She also established a consulting
business which focused on leadership and communication skills. It
provided an opportunity to assist a number of local and regional
organizations and companies.
