Roanoke - Myrtle Barra, 88, formerly of Roanoke, passed away at 12 noon on Friday March 23, 2018 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
She was born on September 22, 1929 in Roanoke, IL to Antone and Eunice Keppler O'Russa. She married Louis Barra on June 28, 1947 in Roanoke, IL. He died on May 8, 2009.
Surviving are three sons, John (Kathy) Barra of Peoria; Mike (Brenda) Barra of Peoria; Mark (Keri) Barra of Washington; two daughters, Monica (Jim) Fry of Peoria; Kelly (Dave) Wright of Bloomington; one sister, Gwen (Marvin) Hangartner of Spring Hill, FL; nine grandchildren, Tammi (Bill) Gates; Tony (Christan) Fry; Andrew Barra; Abby (Deven)Devore; Kristen Barra; Steffen Barra; Tessa Barra; Lexie Barra; Daniel Wright; and three great grandchildren, Hunter Gates; Emerson Fry; and Emma Devore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Delores Langloss, and one grandson, Blaide Barra.
Myrtle worked at Amigoni Supper Club in Roanoke for 12 years and then worked at the Roanoke driver's license facility for the Illinois Secretary of State for 17 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke and was a member of the altar and rosary society.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday March 27, 2018 at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke. Visitation will be 5-7 pm on Monday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Roanoke Township Cemetery.
