Roanoke- Thomas Robert Martino, 59, of Hastings, MI, formerly of Roanoke, IL, passed away unexpectedly, January 26, 2015 in Caledonia, Michigan.
Tom was born in Peoria, Illinois on January 11, 1956, the son of Joe Victor and Mary Teresa (Santi) Martino. On October 14, 2011 he married Darlene Fisher.
He grew up in Roanoke, attended Roanoke-Benson High School and completed a Caterpillar apprentice program. In earlier years, Tom was an employee for Caterpillar in Peoria, Illinois. For the past 25 years, he has been employed with Benteler Automotive of Wyoming, Michigan as a Prototype Engineer.
Tom was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church. He was a devout Catholic and an avid fisherman. He loved his yearly musky fishing trips to Wisconsin with his father, his brother, Jim, and his nephews and friends. He loved music, movies and spending time helping people in recovery, and most of all, his family.
Tom is survived by his wife, Darlene F. Martino of Hastings, MI; parents, Joe & Teresa Martino of Roanoke, IL; his daughters, Kathy (Pat) McReynolds of Peoria; Heather Lane; Erica (Sam) Fischer; and Carla Martino all of Roanoke; his stepsons, Tony (Bridget) Funkey of Fremont, MI; Casey Funkey of Grant, MI; his brother, Jim (Pam) Martino of Pewaukee, WI; his sisters, Mary Jo (Lynn) Roseman of Eureka; Colleen (Phil) Oltman of Roanoke; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Local visitation will be held from 10:00-11:30 am on Saturday February 7, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke. A funeral mass will follow at 11:30 am. Monsignor Charles Beebe will officiate. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2015 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Girrbach Funeral Home in Hastings, MI and a funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Rose of Lima Church, Hastings, MI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke or to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be sent to the family at knappjohnsonharris.com.
