Alvin Ringger

Gridley- Alvin Ringger, 85, of Gridley, IL surrounded by his
family and resting in his easy chair, peacefully went to be with
the Lord on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 8:25 pm after a 4 year
battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born on November 12, 1927 in Gridley, IL a son of
Bernhardt and Leah Welk Ringger. He married Dorothy Stoller on
September 7, 1952 at the Gridley Apostolic Christian Church. She
survives.

IL; three daughters, Beverly (Howard Curtis) Ringger of Eugene, OR;
Keri (Al) Hany of Gridley, IL; Beth (Tom) Schreiner of Zimmerman,
MN; two granddaughters, Rachael Ringger and Camille Schreiner;
three sisters, Lillian Ringger, Viola Ringger both of Gridley, IL;
Betty Herrmann of Princeville, IL; and three brothers, Edwin (Pat)
of Gridley, IL; Raymond (Nadine) of Normal, IL; and Fred (Mary) of
Hudson, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law,
Eugene Herrmann.

An Army veteran, he served his country in Korea. After his
service, he worked for Honeggers &Co. as a district manager for
38 years. When Honeggers sold out and moved to Ohio he worked four
years for his nephew, Gary, at Ringger Feeds until his retirement
in 1992. After retiring from the feed industry, he worked four
years for Myers Crop Service in Gridley in the spring and fall. He
especially enjoyed working with Doug Nelson and Martha Leonard.

He and his wife, Dorothy, organized the Meadows Meadowlarks 4-H
Club in 1965. It was the first club in McLean County to have both
home ec and ag projects. Alvin loved gardening and enjoyed sharing
his produce with neighbors and friends-tomatoes, melons, and
cucumbers being his specialty.

When his granddaughters, Rachael and Camille were small, he
greatly enjoyed having tea parties with them as well as patiently
allowing them to "style" his hair.

He was a member of the Gridley Apostolic Christian Church where
he served as trustee, Sunday School teacher, and usher. He loved
and appreciated his church. Funeral services will be held there on
Monday, December 17, 2012 at 10:00 am. Church ministers will
officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-6 pm at the
Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and one hour prior to
services on Monday before the service at the church. Burial will be
