Roanoke - Arlette Ruth Fehr, 93, fondly known as "Peach" by her loving husband of 72 years, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 3:05 pm on December 17, 2018 at her home.
She was born on October 24, 1925, at home in Roanoke, IL, the daughter of Elias and Lydia Schlupp Fischer. She married Walter Alvin Fehr on November 17, 1946 at her parents' home in Roanoke. He survives.
Also surviving are her five children, Tom Fehr of Roanoke; Mary Jean (Tex) Streitmatter of Syracuse, UT; Mike Fehrof Roanoke; Curt Fehr of Roanoke; Linda (Mike) Dwyer of Secor; three grandchildren, Seth (Marni Brunstetter)Streitmatter of Salt Lake City, UT; Holly (Eric) Gustavson of Farmington, UT; Jordan (Kyle) Schaefer of Morton, five great grandchildren, Liam & Vincent Gustavson; Vivian & Rosalind Streitmatter; Harlee Schaefer; one sister, Wilma Teubel of Bloomfield, IA, and four brothers, Robert (Nilah) Fischer of Morton, Jim (Joann) Fischer of Morton, Leroy Fischer of Washington, and Elias Fischer of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sons, Thomas and Gary; one infant daughter, Evelyn; two brothers, Fred and Lyle Fischer, and one sister, and Lorene Wiegand.
After graduating from high school, Arlette worked at AB Dick in Chicago for a while. She was there when World War II ended which was a memorable experience for her. Although Arlette was a fulltime homemaker after she got married, she helped in the office at B.J. Fehr's Blacksmith Shop after her children were all in school.
Arlette served as an Election Judge for Roanoke Township for 35 years; delivered Meals on Wheels in the Roanoke & Benson areas & was a volunteer at the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Nursing Home. She also volunteered at the Mennonite Relief Sale for many years. She had a servant's heart & was always helping someone. Her kindness & giving spirit will be missed.
Arlette was a member of the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church, having served in various capacities through the years.
Funeral services for Arlette will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December, 22, 2018, at the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke, and also from 10 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the services, at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
