Betty Campen
Benson - Betty M. Campen, 82, of Benson passed away surrounded
by her family at 2:04 am on Friday September 7, 2012 at Advocate
Eureka Hospital.
She was born on December 10, 1929 in Bloomington, IL to Albert
and Grace McGrath Alsene. She married Clarence Campen on December
10, 1949 in Benson, IL. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons, John (Terri) Campen of Wildwood,
MO; Jim (Marlene) Campen of Benson, IL; three daughters, Carol
(Martin) Kuipers of Bonfield, IL; Janet (Gary) Williamson of
Eureka, IL; Kimberly (Tim) Schrader of Machesney Park, IL; one
brother, Leonard (Jean) Alsene of Port Charlotte, FL; 13
grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three infant children,
Katherine, Jerome, and Timothy; four sisters; and two brothers.
Betty and Clarence were truly partners in life. As a homemaker,
Betty helped on the family farm and her and Clarence enjoyed
raising their children and living life together.
Betty was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Benson where
she was active in the ladies aid. She also had served on the ladies
aid and taught bible school at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Benson.
She also gave of her time as a volunteer for the American Heart
Association and taught 4-H introductory to cooking classes.
Family and friends were an important part of Betty's life. She
was known for sharing her homemade pies with people and enjoyed
being outdoors working in the garden and she had a love for
flowers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday September
8, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Benson. Visitation will be
held from 9:30 - 10:30 am before the services at the church. Burial
will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in rural Benson.
Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home is assisting the family with
arrangements.

Benson Ambulance, St. Paul Lutheran Church, or a charity of the
