Carol Schwab
Roanoke - Carol Ruth Schwab, 97, of Roanoke, passed away at 8:54 am on Friday June 9, 2017 at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal, IL.
She was born on February 20, 1920 in Pattonsburg, IL to Floyd and Rosa Reed Hattan. She married Ernest Schwab on May 24, 1941 in Washburn, IL. He passed away on May 22, 1974.
Surviving is her daughter, Judy (Ed) Laskowski of Carlock, IL; three grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) Mangold of Roanoke, IL; Joshua Mangold serving overseas; and Nathanael (Jenna) Mangold of Normal, IL; three great grandchildren, Andrew (Elle) Mangold; Benjamin Mangold; and Zachary Mangold.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Marjorie Mangold; five brothers, and one sister.
Carol worked at Commerce bank in Roanoke for over 20 years before retiring in 1985.
She was a member of the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church where she had been active in the world relief and the women's helping hands sewing group.
Always willing to give of herself, Carol helped to raise her grandchildren during her daughters illness. She also volunteered her time at Eureka Et Cetra shop and the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday June 12th at the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-3 pm at the Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and from 9-9:45 am on Monday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
