Roanoke- Clara E. Fischer, 76, of Roanoke, passed away at 7:45 am on Saturday November 29, 2014 at her residence.

She was born on January 21, 1938 in Bloomington, IL to Virgil and Irene Holt Wilkey. She married Wilmer "Buster" Fischer on December 22, 1957 in Secor, IL. He passed away on April 13, 1993.

Surviving are three sons, Bruce (Debbie) Fischer; Glenn (Evie) Fischer; Roger Fischer all of Roanoke; six daughters, Linda (Ronnie) Johnston of Long Grove, IA; Beth (Don) Wilton of Vestal, NY; Colleen (Steve) Byrd of Roanoke; Doris (Brent) Cox of Mt. Washington, KY; Janelle Hiland of Washington; Kristen (Brian) Schneider of Remington, IN; two foster sons, Les Knollenberg of Groveland; Darrell Lucas of Bloomington; six brothers, Art (Carolyn) Wilkey of Secor, IL; Jim Wilkey of Eureka; John (Lila) Wilkey of East Peoria; Keith Wilkey of Roanoke; Charles (Rose) Wilkey of Columbus, GA; George (EllaB) Wilkey of Piper City; four sisters, Erma Reich of Aurora; Wanda Wilkey of Bloomington, IN; Martha Lyons of Roanoke; Pam Wilkey of Millis, MA; 20 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Violet Carey; Ruth Carey; and two grandsons, Steven and Nathan Fischer.

Clara's focus was her family and her faith. She loved being a homemaker and caring for her family. Her caring nature was also shared with others in her work at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Eureka, the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke and as a volunteer at Advocate Eureka Hospital.

Clara was a member of the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church where funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 2, 2014 at 10:00 am. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-7 pm at the Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and from 9-9:45 am on Tuesday prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Unity Point Methodist Hospice for the wonderful care and comfort that was provided to Clara and her family.
