Clifton Gillispie, 74, of Bloomington passed away on Thursday,
November; 1, 2012 at 1:51 pm in Bloomington at OSF St. Joseph
Medical Center. Funeral services will be held for Clifton at 11:00
a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012 at Mount. Pisgah Baptist Church in
Bloomington with Rev. Frank L. McSwain, Sr. officiating. Visitation
will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the services at the
Church. Interment will take place in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in
Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the
family in Clifton's name. The family has entrusted
Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home with the care of their loved
Clifton was born on May 21, 1938 in Denmark, TN., under the care
of his grandfather Jonas Gillispie I and his mother Lula D. He
married Mattie J. Brooks on June 2, 1956 in Carrent,
Mississippi. She died on January 17, 2010.
Clifton is survived by two sons, Clifton (Juanita) Gillispie,
Jr. of Normal, IL; Dwight (Sharon) Gillispie of Normal, IL; three
daughters, Lucy D. (Clyde) Gulley of Peoria, IL; Alice Gillispie of
Normal, IL; Debra Harper of Tennessee, nine grandchildren and seven
great grandchildren; two sisters Leeanna Yarber of Toledo, Ohio;
and Mattie Mae Fisher of Toledo, Ohio; along with a host of nieces
He was preceded in death by his mother Lula D and Baby Sis.
He worked at ISU for several years assisting in various jobs and
donated his time to help with the food pantry at Mount Pisgah
