Dawn Jamila Johnson 35, of Junction City, OR, formerly of Roanoke, passed away unexpectedly on December 31, 2021, in Springfield, OR. True to her nature, she was an organ donor and with her passing is giving others the gift of life.
She was born on March 20, 1986, in Peoria, IL to Ronald W. Jr. and Zahra Othman Johnson.
Surviving are her parents of Ron Jr. and Zahra Johnson of Roanoke; one brother, Ahmad (Aysha) Saleh of Kano, Nigeria; paternal grandfather, Ron Sr. (Diana) Johnson; paternal grandmother, Sandra Aeschleman both of Roanoke; her boyfriend, Matt Love of Junction City, OR; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her beloved cat, Dutchie.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents.
Dawn graduated from Bradley University in 2007. Dawn loved the redwood trees and the ocean; these drew her to California after graduating.
She had a passion for animals and worked at the Aquatic Center in Crescent City, CA rescuing animals. She also worked as a pre-school teacher and pharmacy tech.
Private family services will be held at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home and burial will be held in Roanoke Township Cemetery.
