Dorothy Gries
Roanoke- Dorothy Ann Gries, 91, of Roanoke, IL, passed away at
12:20 am on Thursday September 20, 2012 at Snyder Village Health
Center in Metamora where she was a resident.
She was born on November 25, 1920 in El Paso, IL to Alfred M.
and Clara J. Haas Clark. She married Franklin H. Gries on June 18,
1941 in El Paso, IL. He passed away on April 21, 2012.
Surviving are two sons, David (Agnes) Gries of Collinsville, IL;
James (Sharon) Gries of Eureka, IL; two daughters, Ann (Edward)
Lenart of Shelbyville, IL; Susan (Mark) Clark of Mapleton, IL; 10
grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, and one great
great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and
one grandson.
Dorothy was a homemaker and she and her husband Frank operated
an upholstery business out of their home in Roanoke for many
years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke where
funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday September 24,
2012. Monsignor Charles Beebe will officiate. Visitation will be
held from 1-3 pm on Sunday at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in
Roanoke and from 9-9:45 am on Monday at the church. There will be a
rosary service at 12:30 pm on Sunday before the start of the
visitation at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. John Catholic
Cemetery in Benson.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church
or the Alzheimer's Association of Central Illinois. Online
