Dorothy Isaia

Roanoke - Dorothy Ann Isaia, 94, of Roanoke, passed away at 10:50 pm on Wednesday October 25, 2017, at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, IL.

She was born on February 11, 1923 in Minonk, IL to Carl and Viola Uphoff Schmidt. She married Barney Isaia on June 10, 1945 in Minonk, IL. He passed away on January 26, 1967.

Surviving are four sons, Raymond (Jan) Isaia of San Antonio, TX; Ronald (Susie Beening) Isaia of Peoria; Russell (Janice) Isaia of Brookline, MA; Richard Isaia of Roanoke, IL; one daughter-in-law, Barb Isaia of Roanoke; one sister, Alice Mae Koch; eight grandchildren, Melissa (Kurt) Sussman; Michael Isaia; Dr. Amy (Pedro) Padilla; Christopher Isaia; Kaitlyn (Josh) Ramsier; Landon (Katie) Isaia; Derek Isaia; Claire Isaia; and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Robert Isaia, one sister, Evelyn Sauvage, and one brother, Franklin Uphoff.

Dorothy worked many years in local restaurants in the Roanoke area. She was known as the "Barbie Doll" maker in the 1960's and was later a cook and then head cook at Sowers Elementary School for the Roanoke-Benson School district.

Dorothy loved to play cards and was a member of the Crazy 8's Card Club. She was known for her needle work, crocheting, and quilting. Her hands were never idle creating quilts for all of her family.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Roanoke.

Family always came first with Dorothy and her pride and joy were her five sons who repeatedly surprised her with antics and many blessings. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart and did all she could for them.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday October 30th at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke. Frank Sauder will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1-4 pm on Sunday also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roanoke Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodford County Relay for Life or to a charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be sent to the family at knappjohnsonharris.com.
