Eldon Kennell

Roanoke- Eldon W. Kennell, 77, of Roanoke, passed away at 6:35 a.m., Thursday, September 07, 2017 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL.

He was born September 15, 1939 the son of Clarence and Eileen (Martin) Kennell. He married Mary Alice Ulrich on April 2, 1959 in Roanoke. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons; Dennis (Nelda) Kennell of Roanoke, IL, Tim (Bev) Kennell of Lancaster, PA; two sisters; Luella (Art) Eigsti of Eureka, IL, Mary (Mike) Lockart of Eureka, IL; one brother Gary (Sandy) Kennell of Denton, TX; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Eldon farmed in the Roanoke area for 25 years. Later, he served as a chaplain at Pontiac Correctional Center for 33 years. He touched many people's lives and he freely shared Jesus wherever he went.

Eldon was a member of Cazenovia Mennonite Church where services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, September 10, 2017. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Knapp-Johnson-Harris funeral home in Roanoke, IL and one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday. Burial will be in Stewart Harmony Cemetery.
