Emerson Bradbury
Minonk- Emerson C. Bradbury, 90, of Minonk, IL passed away at
7:40 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Heritage Health Nursing
Home in Minonk, IL.
He was born on January 13, 1923 in
Washburn, IL a son of Jesse and Hannah Duden Bradbury. He married
Virginia D. Vietinghoff on April 9, 1949 in Minonk, IL. She passed
away on August 14, 2004.
Survivors include two sons,
Charles(Pat) Bradbury of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Marc Bradbury of
Bloomington, IL; two daughters, Kay(Tiger) Gibbs; Julie Bradbury
both of Minonk, IL; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, one brother, Russell Bradbury.
Emerson owned and operated North
Side Grocery in Minonk, IL from 1946-1985.
Emerson proudly served in the
United States Army from 1943-1945. He fought in WWII,
receiving the Purple Heart for his service and bravery.
He attended the Minonk United
Methodist Church.
Emerson was a very loving father,
grandfather and friend. He was a very dedicated businessman who ran
the North Side Grocery for more than 35 years. He is still known
for the best ham salad and hamburger. You won't find a better
butcher or father than him. Love you dad and grandpa. Emerson loved
animals and especially his Yorkie dog Rudy.
The family would like to thank the
staff at Heritage Health Nursing Home in Minonk for their kindness
and compassion. It was not only a profession it came from the
heart.
Funeral services will be held at
11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Ruestman-Harris
Funeral Home in Minonk. Mary Hartzler will officiate. Visitation
will be from 5-7p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Ruestman-Harris
Funeral Home in Minonk. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery
where military rites will be accorded at the grave.
