Bloomington-Emmitt
Sorrell, 67, of Bloomington, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at
4:47 a.m. at OSF-St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington. Funeral
services will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Mt.
Pisgah Baptist Church in Bloomington with Rev. Frank L. McSwain,
Sr. officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, May 20, 2013 from
4-7 p.m. at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington and
1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may
be made to The American Heart Association or The National Kidney
Foundation of Illinois, Inc. in Emmitt's name. The family Of
Emmitt has entrusted the care of their loved one to
Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington.

Emmitt was born May 4, 1946 in St.
Louis, Mo., a son to Theodore Sorrell and Mary (Sawyer)
Sorrell.

He leaves to cherish his memory,
daughter, Diane Sorrell, Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Tracy Sorrell,
Oakland, CA; daughter, Pia Sorrell, Fairfield, CA; daughter, Emia
Williams, Little Rock, AR; son, Artie Sorrell; son, Marlon Sorrell;
Daughter, Michelle Sorrell, Bloomington; Monique (Anthony) Johnson,
Bloomington; son, Jason Hosea, Bloomington; daughter, Shavonne
(Earl) Jeffres, Conyers, GA; son, Emillio Sorrell, Lawrenceville,
GA; son, Gerrion Sorrell, Bloomington; four brothers, Sherman
(Marie) Sorrell, Washington Park, IL,  Larry (Linda) Sorrell,
Victor Bey-Jones, Belleville, IL, Freddie Sorrell, Joliet, IL;
sister, Valerie Sorrell, Joliet, IL; 27 grandchildren, 7 great
grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Emmitt was preceded in death by his
parents, three brothers, Theodore "Ted" Sorrell, Andre Sorrell, and
Manuel Sorrell; one sister, Valeria Shelby; a granddaughter,
Tahisha LaShay; and a grandson, Jadon.

He enjoyed fishing and drinking
coffee with his friends at Steak and Shake. He was a member of
Bloomington Masonic Lodge #43 in Bloomington.  Emmitt was
loved by his family and friends and will be sorely missed by all
who knew him.
