Roanoke - Esther R. Sauder, 89, of Roanoke, passed away at 4:50 pm on Friday December22, 2017 at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
She was born on October 18, 1928 in Roanoke, IL to David and Anna Martin Mangold. She married John J. Sauder on February 26, 1950 in Roanoke. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jan (Jim) Mueller of Roanoke; Diane (Steve) Bates of Morton; three sons, John (Peg) Sauder of Carmel, IN; Steve (Margie) Sauder of Eureka; Phil (Kathy) Sauder of Bloomington; 16 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Ruth Scherer; and two brothers, Melvin and Charles Mangold.
A homemaker, Esther helped her husband with keeping the books on the family farm in Roanoke.
Esther loved her Lord and Savior and was a member of the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church where she taught Sunday school and was active in the world relief and helping hands. She also volunteered many hours for the Apostolic Christian nursing home crafting for and assisting with the fund raising bazaar for many years.
She enjoyed being outside and working in the garden but most of all loved any time at all spent with her family. She cherished her family dinners on Sunday and was always there to support her children and grandchildren in all of their activities.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday December 27th at the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7pm at the Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home and from 9-9:45 am on Wednesday at the Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
