Bloomington-Gertrude C. Modahl, 97,
of Bloomington, passed away at 2:25 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013
at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be held at
11a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Park Hill Cemetery Mausoleum in
Bloomington with Pastor Christine McNeal officiating.
Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church in
Bloomington, Illinois Wesleyan University or Westminister Village
Foundation. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in
Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Gertrude was born August 27, 1915
in Anchor Township, McLean County, a daughter of Arthur and Augusta
Stubbe Hermann. She married Adolph C. Modahl on February 1,
1966 in Las Vegas, NV. He preceded her in death on June 28,
1981.
She was preceded in death by her
parents and 3 sisters.
Gertrude was a member of St
John's Lutheran Church in Bloomington where she volunteered at the
welcome center. She was also a member of the Bromenn
Foundation.
She was a secretary in
administrative services at State Farm Insurance Co. Her and her
husband founded Modahl and Scott Inc., in Bloomington. She was a
member of The Illinois Wesleyan Presidents Club and a William
McDowell Dever Fellow at Illinois Wesleyan University.
She was a former member of Home Sweet Home Mission Board and
Women's Club.
Gertrude and her husband traveled
throughout the United States and wintered in Mesa, AZ. She
enjoyed playing bridge and volunteering.
