Gloria Davis

Varna- Reverend Gloria D. Davis, 67, of Varna IL, formerly
of Lacon, died July 6 at 5:00 pm at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in
Lacon. She was born August 29, 1945 in Comanche, Texas to George
and Omega McDonald Torres, her mother Omega survives in Ft Worth,
Texas.


Also surviving is her son Todd (Terri) Davis of Varna; brother
George (Janice) Torres of Natalia, TX; sister Kathy Pouge of Ft
Worth, TX; and grandchild Breanna Turley of Varna. Gloria was
preceded in death by her son Mark in 1984 at the age of 14.



Gloria later attended Seminary School in Evanston, IL at Garrett
Evangelical Seminary to become a Methodist minister. She shepherded
the Methodist Churches in Whitt, Irving, Athens, and Cantrell
Illinois, spending 16 years with the Athens and Cantrell
parishes.



Funeral will be Wednesday,  July 10 at 10:00 am at her
church the Lacon Sparland United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike
Barclay and Rev. Jan Stewart officiating. Visitation will be
Tuesday from 5-7 pm at the church in Lacon. Memorials can be
