Gloria Newell

Sparland- Gloria Newell, age 80, of East Peoria formerly of
Sparland, died on September 10, 2013 at 7:00AM at her residence.
She was born on January 23, 1933 in Lacon to John and Myrtle
McFarland Cowell. Gloria graduated from Mid County High School in
1951 and married Robert Newell on June 28, 1952 in Lacon. They were
married over 50 years and he passed away on February 21, 2003.


Gloria worked in the Sparland School Cafeteria for over 30 years
and 5 more at the Midland Junior High. She provided the children
with nutritious AND delicious meals with plenty of seconds for all.
Many adults still rave about the meals they received at school from
her.



She is survived by her son R.J. (Gina) Newell of McFarland, WI;
daughter Lee Ann (David) Meinhold of Germantown Hills;
grandchildren Robert (Emily) Newell of Whitefish Bay, WI; Lauren
Newell of Dousman, WI; Jill Meinhold of Indianapolis, IN; and Jim
Meinhold of Germantown Hills. Also surviving are 4 nieces and 4
nephews.


She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers.


She was a member of the Henry United Methodist Church.


Services will be held on Friday, September 13 at 11:00 AM at the
Henry United Methodist Church with visitation on Thursday from 4:00
to 7:00PM also at her church.  Rev. Lindsay Churchman and Ken
Harris will be officiating.Burial will be in the Lacon Cemetery.
Lenz Memorial Home is assisting the family with their
arrangements.
