Helen Mae DeSigne, 98, of Waupaca, WI, formerly of Roanoke, IL, passed away at 5:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at her home with family by her side.
She was born May 13, 1917 in Bridgeport, CT to Elmer and Margaret (Ferguson) Orton. She married Alfred DeSigne on July 29, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY. He died July 20, 2004.
She was also preceded in death by her son Mike and sister Ruth.
Surviving are 1 daughter Joy DeSigne of Waupaca, WI, 3 grandchildren Matthew (Dee Dee) Campbell, Nathan Campbell (Max), Lindsay (Harvey) Ebben, 4 great-grandchildren Brooke, Jacob, Amelia, and Elliot and 2 nieces Carol Carlyon and Joan (Bill) Bolton and 2 nephews Bob (Cindy) DeSigne and Larry DeSigne.
Helen grew up in New York and worked as an accounting assistant and telephone operator for Pioneer and Bordon Ice Cream Company. She later became a homemaker.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Madison, WI, former member of the United Methodist Church in Roanoke where she taught Sunday school for over 20 years, a member of The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #463 in Roanoke since 1945, and a die-hard, avid Milwaukee Brewers fan.
A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, September 25, 2015 at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke, IL. Pastor Charlie Graul will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home from 10 to 11 A.M. Burial will be in Roanoke Township Cemetery.
