Roanoke - Irene Lutjens, 100, of Roanoke, passed away at 9:47 am on Thursday July 23, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Home in Flanagan, IL where she was a resident.
She was born on July 17, 1915 in Benson to Henry and Engeline Warnke Woltzen. She married Wilbur J. Lutjens on March 15, 1956 in Benson, IL. He passed away February 7, 1995. Her parents and one brother Ernest also proceed her in death.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Irene was a homemaker, helping her husband and brother on the family farm for many years. She loved farm life and lived on the family farm for 99 years. She loved gardening and canning, and she enjoyed cooking and baking.
Irene was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural Benson where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday July 27. Rev. Gabriel Baumgardner will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
