EUREKA- James R. Teel, 87, of Eureka, passed away at 6:40
AM on Saturday, July 6, at the Washington Christian Village Care
Center in Washington.
He was born on April 16, 1926 in Ft. Madison, IA,
the son of John and Mabel (Ross) Teel. He married Marilyn Wassenaar
in Ft. Madison on June 7, 1953 and she survives.
Also surviving are his son, Jeffrey (Tahdra) Teel,
of Morton; 3 daughters, Linda (Mark) Cordes, of Eureka, Laura
(William) Robison, of Springfield, MO, and Jennifer Dennis, of
Eureka; 8 grandchildren and one brother, Dick Richards of Danville,
IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister,
Betty McMillan and one granddaughter.
James served in World War II as a radar tech for the
US Army. He worked as a broadcast engineer for WEEK-TV retiring in
1992.
James was a member of Eureka Presbyterian Church. He
was also a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite
Masons, The American Legion, and the Lions Club. He was very proud
to be an amateur radio operator and a member of the Gallon Donor
Club for the American Red Cross.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday at
the Eureka Presbyterian Church with Pastor Nollan Harwood
officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from
1-2 PM at the church. Interment will be in Olio Cemetery in
Eureka.
