Benson - Joyce Elaine Grafelman, 79, of Benson, IL, passed away at 1:13 pm on Sunday April 26, 2015 at Kindred Hospital in Peoria, IL.
She was born on January 15, 1936 in Greene Township, IL to John E. and Elizabeth Koch Weber. She married Howard Grafelman on February 25, 1956 in Benson, IL. He passed away on December 2, 2014.
Surviving are two sons, Scott (Sharon) Grafelman of Kansas City, MO; Clint (Rita) Grafelman of Friendwood, TX; two daughters, Lisa (Nick) Kester of Dwight, IL; Rhonda (Lee Edwards) Davis of El Paso, IL; eight grandchildren, Sarah (Matt) King; Stephen Grafelman; John Grafelman; Emily Grafelman; Ryan Grafelman; Doug, Derek, and Nicholas Kester; one brother, John Weber of Roanoke; three sisters, Joan (Delmar) Kolb of Benson; Ruth (Ethan) Fish of Milbank, S.D.; and Barbara (Dale) Hostetler of Benson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Todd Grafelman; one brother, Dale Weber; and one infant granddaughter, Maggie Kester.
Joyce attended the Brown's Business School in Peoria and then worked for Gailey Eye Clinic before she started raising her family.
She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Benson where she had taught Sunday School, served on the church council, and was active with the altar guild and the ladies aid.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday April 30th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Benson. Pastor Nathan Feig will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 11:00 am on Thursday prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Clayton Township Cemetery. Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Benson Ambulance. Online condolences may be sent to the family at knappjohnsonharris.com.
