Katherine was born December 14, 1972 at Bloomington , a daughter
of Robert E. And Virginia M. (Frank)  Lockwood.

Survivors include her parents, Robert E. And Virginia M.
Lockwood of Bloomington; brother, Robert "Charlie" (Linda) Lockwood
of Towanda; sister, Cynthia A. (Mike) Cook of Carlock; sister,
Rebecca L. (Ken Taczy) Lockwood of Huntley; three nieces, six
nephews and one great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and sister in law,
Angela Lockwood.

After graduating Bloomington High School in 1991, Kathy attended
Illinois State University where she earned her bachelors of science
degree in May of 1995.  She went on to study microbiology at
ISU and earned her masters degree in microbiology in May
1999.  Kathy earned the honor of being inducted into the Phi
Sigma Biological Sciences Honor Society at ISU in April 1996.
As a graduate student Kathy taught biology classes at ISU.

Kathy relocated to Madison, WI and worked for Third Wave
Technologies, Inc-a biotechnology company.  She worked there
until February 2003 when she went to work for Monsanto.  In
September 2003, Kathy bought her house in Madison and began making
it her home.  Kathy's love of gardening grew as she created
her flower gardens.  In October 2006, she completed the
requirements for the Master Gardener Program through the University
of Wisconsin-Extension.

She was a huge animal lover and had owned many birds, cats,
dogs, and fish through out the years. Kathy worked as a dog trainer
during her college years while attending ISU. She was an avid scrap
booker who enjoyed spending time with her friends and creating
beautiful scrapbooks and cards.  She was also involved with
the Jaycees in Middleton, WI and was a very active volunteer with
Habitat for Humanity.

Kathy was a member of Blackhawk Church of Madison,
Wisconsin.

In 2009, Kathy was diagnosed with breast cancer and she fought
it with great strength and determination.  Sadly, in May of
2011, the breast cancer recurred in her bones and from that time
until her passing, Kathy fought valiantly to maintain her quality
of life as long as possible.

Kathy enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
She was a terrific daughter, sister and aunt to her nieces and
nephews.  She was loved by all of us and will be greatly
missed.
