Benson - Kenneth Daniel Kennell, 83, of Benson, IL, died at his winter home in Sarasota, FL on March 17, 2016.

He was born in Woodford County, IL on December 17, 1932, to Reuben and Elsie (Martin) Kennell. He was married to Emily J. Christner from Shelbyville, IL on April 16, 1955 at Mt. Hermon A.M. Church in Shelbyville.

He is survived by his wife, Emily; two sons and three daughters, Elaine (Roger) Hostetler of Afton, IA; Audrey (Nelson) Yoder of Centreville, MI; Jim (Sharon) Kennell of Roanoke, IL; David (Diane) Kennell of Sarasota, FL; Lori (James) Graber of Seneca, SC; 22 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; five brothers, Leonard (Velda) Kennell of Benson, IL; Ralph (Julia) Kennell of Wakarusa, IN; Harold (Shirley) Kennell of Shelbyville, IL; Pete (Kathy) Kennell of Washburn, IL; Ervin (Rose) Kennell of Delta, CO; and one sister, Susie Gerber of Goshen, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Marvin and Johnny, and 1 great grandson, Glen Alan Hostetler.

Kenny enjoyed farming the family farm where they lived for 60 years. He remained active with the farm even after his retirement. He had also helped start and was co-owner of Kennell earthmoving, which later became Kennell and Schrader earthmoving. He had worked for Bloomington Livestock, the El Paso Sale Barn, H.D. Copeland Livestock at the Peoria Union Stock Yards and did livestock hauling for area farmers for many years.

He enjoyed many winters in Florida and was gifted with fixing things and helping others. He also enjoyed sitting under the carport visiting with his friends.
He accepted Christ in his youth and God blessed him with 80 plus years of good health. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their expressions of sympathy, prayers, gifts of food, and support showed in many ways.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday March 24, at Linn Mennonite Church in Roanoke, IL. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Wednesday at the Knapp-Johnson-Harris funeral home in Roanoke, IL. Burial will be in Stewart Harmony Cemetery in Metamora, IL.
