Kenneth Thornton
Bloomington_Kenneth W. Thornton, 76, of
Bloomington, passed away at 1:30 a.m.on Wednesday, December 5, 2012
at Heartland Health Care in Normal. There will be no services.
Cremation will be accorded. Kibler_Brady_Ruestman Memorial Home in
Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Kenneth was born on February 5, 1936 in East St. Louis, IL., to
Kenneth W. and Lillie Belle (Jacobs) Thornton.
Surviving is one son, Kenneth (Deb) Thornton of Bloomington; two
sisters, Gail (Deve) Brunson of McMurray, Pa; Karen (Tom) Stontz of
Rock Island, IL; fiancé, Susan Hunter of Winnipeg Manitoba,
Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Dwaine A.
Thornton.
Kenneth graduated in 1958 from the University of Illinois with a
bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering.
Kenneth was employed by Sinclair Oil Company/ARCO starting in
Harvey,IL and ending in California until his retirement. During his
career he was instrumental in inventing the formula for unleaded
gasoline.
While in Bloomington Kenneth resided at Evergreen Place. He
enjoyed sports, music and crossword puzzles. He had a great sense
of humor and was a great guy who enjoyed life.
