Lela Quiram
Benson - Lela Mae Bohlander Quiram, 92, of Benson, passed away at
1:20 pm on Sunday September 15, 2013 at the Roanoke Apostolic
Christian Nursing Home.
She was born in El Paso, IL on April 16, 1921 to Michael and Mabel
Ioeger Bohlander. She married Howard M. Quiram on November 20, 1941
at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Benson. He passed away on February
28, 1996.
Surviving are three children, Dennis (Judith) Quiram of Roanoke;
Mike (Marilyn) Quiram of Peoria; Kathy (Charlie) Crabtree of
Normal; eight grandchildren, Paul (Julie) Quiram; Chad Quiram; Jerr
Quiram; Valerie (Chuck) Bassett; Scott Quiram; Eric (Nicole)
Quiram; Nikki (Matt) Segobiano; Candace (Sean) Jablonski; and
fourteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Verna
Gerdes.
A homemaker, Lela and her husband lived on a farm outside Benson
and were involved in all the activities of farm life for
thirty-five years in the Minonk and Benson area. She lived in
Woodford County all of her life.
Lela was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Benson where she was a Sunday School teacher for 18 years and was a
member of the Mission Aid Organization. She enjoyed crossword
puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, cross stitch embroidery, doing laundry and
mowing on her riding mower. She loved her family very much and
always said she was very proud of them.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday September
19th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Benson. Pastor
Nathan Feig will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9-10:45 am
on Thursday at the church prior to the service. Burial will be in
the Minonk Cemetery. Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke
is in charge of arrangements.
