Lillian Meginnes

Roanoke - Lillian Pioletti Meginnes, 95, of Roanoke, transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Home.

She was born on June 25, 1922, in Roanoke and lived there her whole life. She was the youngest child of Joseph and Maria Cerva Pioletti. She married Charles Meginnes on July 18, 1944. Charlie passed away on May 25, 2003.

Surviving are her sons, Brian (Mary Jane) Meginnes; Tim (Judy) Meginnes; her grandchildren, Maria (Jason) Maras; Laura Meginnes; Joe (Amy) Meginnes; Jay and Alex Meginnes; great granddaughters, Eleanor, Violet and Rosalind; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Charles Michael Meginnes, one brother, Don Pioletti, and one sister, Marion Newman.

As a young woman, Lil worked for her father in the Pioletti General Store in Roanoke. She loved to can produce from Charlie's garden, play cards and talk on the telephone with her sister and friends. She carried on her heritage of cooking traditional northern Italian foods for her family.

Lil was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and helped organize and cook for the annual church spaghetti supper.

The family wishes to express appreciation for the many acts of kindness and understanding by the staff and residents of the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke over the past 7 ½ years.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday June 15, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke. Fr. Eugene Radosevich will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:30 - 6:30 pm on Thursday June 14 at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke with a rosary service being held at 6:30 p.m. immediately following the visitation. Burial will be in the Roanoke Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke. Online condolences may be sent the family at knappjohnsonharris.com.
