Linda Parrish
On Tuesday, May 7, 2013, Linda Lucille (Westefer) Parrish,
surrounded by her unwavering devoted husband, beloved mother,
loving children and family, left this earth for her Father's loving
hands.
Linda was born on May 14, 1949, to Evelyn Lucille (Durst) and
Donald Eugene Westefer. And this world definitely gained one
of a kind! Linda was followed by two siblings that she
adored: Donald Lee (Butch) and Patricia Ann (Treutle). Don
lives in Montana, and Patty passed away on Feb. 21, 2013, breaking
Linda's heart. Now they are together again with their Daddy,
Don, who passed away Aug. 31, 1993.
In life, Linda was th epitome of life, love, feistiness, and
orneriness! Linda always could pick anyone up with her own
brand of humor! And she used it in all of the jobs she had:
roller-skating waitress at A&W Root Beer stand, her own hair
salon she had for over 20 years, where her clients became her
family; working with her best "partners in crime" Joe and Sharon
Murphy at their hardware store; and one of her favorites. Working
around the residents at St. Joseph's Nursing Home, where she fell
in love with so many people, and they all loved her right
back. She left there for the only job that would ever be
better: taking care of grandchild #2, which then turned out to be
3,4,5 and 6! Now those were definitely the highlight of her
working years!
Linda's purpose in life began the night she met a drummer from
Sparland. Marty William Parrish didn't know what hit him, but
he knew he was madly in love with this beautiful lively woman from
Lacon, and a couple of weeks later they went to pick up Linda's 8
yr. old daughter, and Marty became a father in that instant. They
married on May 3, 1975. They just celebrated their
38th anniversary, blessed that they had grown closer,
more in love, and more devoted to each other every day of every
year.
Linda and Marty have 3 children. Dawn Michelle (Michael) Kear of
Lowpoint; Andrea Lyn Parrish of Eureka, and Jeffrey William Parrish
of Lacon. They have six grandchildren in which their world
revolves, and these grandchildren know Grandma would move heaven
and earth for them, and that she loves them with her whole heart
and is so proud of them. Aaron (Morgan) Kear of Hanna City,
Adam and Jacob Kear of Lowpoint, Seth Howald of Lacon, and AJ and
Sophia Coccia of Eureka.
Linda was a fiercely protective woman of all of those she loved,
and for those of us that are honored to be so called, we are
forever blessed.
Visitation will be at Lenz Funeral Home in Lacon on Friday, May 10
from 5-7 pm. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial
contributions may be made to Lacon Sparland Rescue 52. Online
condolences may be sent to the family at www.lenzmemorial.com.
