Louise Christine "Lucy" (Hodel) Koehler

Louise “Lucy” Christine (Hodel) Koehler, 63, of Benson, Illinois and Fort Myers, Florida passed from this life at her home in Benson on October 10, 2023, with her family by her side.

Lucy was born on March 31, 1960, to Glen and Margaret Fehr Hodel in Peoria, Illinois. After graduating from Roanoke-Benson High School, she began dating Randy Koehler, and they were married on November 2, 1980. Randy survives her.

She is survived by her five boys, their wives, and her fourteen grandchildren: Ricky and Morgan Koehler (Cali, Braxton, Ricki, Clayton) of Benson; Ryan and Megan Koehler (Kyla Magnuson, Faith, Violet, Hayes, June) of Benson; Robert and Jessica Koehler of Chicago; Randall and Morgan Koehler (Vivienne, Wyndolyn) of Freeman, South Dakota; and Reuben and Jaclyn Koehler (Charlotte Hinthorn, Asher, Claire) of Benson. She is also survived by her siblings and in-laws: Kenneth and Kathy Hodel; Edie and Larry Yordy; Nancy and Ross Gingrich; Jill and Rod Schertz; Mae and John Janssen; Laura and Dick Moritz; Robin and John Roberts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Sam Hodel.

Lucy received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Illinois State University in 2015. She was a homemaker who raised her sons and her grandkids. Lucy served as an Emergency Medical Technician for the Benson Ambulance Service and as a Trustee of the Illinois Prairie District Library. She loved reading and spending time with her family.

A public burial service officiated by her son, Rev. Randall Koehler, will be held at Clayton Township Cemetery on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 2:30 PM. Following the burial, a celebration of life will be held at the Benson Legion at 3:30 PM. Fellowship meal to follow.
