Roanoke- Marjorie A. Plattner, 85, of Roanoke, IL passed away at 5:48 pm on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Roanoke.

She was born on May 23, 1929 in Wichita, KS a daughter to Valentine and Rose Miller Barth. She married Russell Plattner on June 29, 1952 in Peoria, IL. He survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Pat (Fred) Beer of Milford, IN; Jane (Stan) DesCarpentrie of Eureka; Jennifer (Sean) Murray of Germantown Hills; two sons, Russell (Sally) Plattner, Jr. of Washington; Dan (Deanne) Plattner of Lake Forest, IL; sixteen grandchildren, Holly (Micah) Zeltwanger; Kari (Tim) Stoller; Jeff (Heidi) Beer; Angie (Mark) Reinhard; Regg (Bev) Beer; Jodi Beer; Troy (Amanda) Plattner; Tricia (Kyle) Fiechter; Tess (Brandon) Wiegand; Grant (Deb) DesCarpentrie; Megan (Britt) Steffen; Olivia and Owen Plattner; Kylynn, Ryan, and Keira Murray; twenty great-grandchildren with more on the way; and two children from CVE; Osmara and Jorge whom Jodi supported in Magdalena, Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Morris Barth, and Keyle from CVE.

Marjorie and Russell owned and operated Plattner Jewelry in Roanoke. She had a very compassionate and giving spirit which lead her to volunteer at many different places. She gave her time to Meals on Wheels, OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke, Prairie School, the Et Cetera Shop, and supported many children internationally.

She was a member of the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church where funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, November 16, 2014. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Saturday at the Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and from 12-12:45 pm on Sunday at the church. Burial will be in the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
