Normal - Margaret L. Chapman, 71, of Normal, passed away at
10:03 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Heartland Healthcare
in Normal.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September,
22, 2013 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in
Bloomington. Visitation will held from 5-7:00 p.m. prior to
the service at the memorial home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Town and
Country Kennel Club in Bloomington. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman
Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with
arrangements.
Margaret was born on February 24, 1942 in Peoria, a daughter to
Frank and Carmela (Smith) Sullivan.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory two sons; Ben (Lauren)
Chapman, Buffalo, NY, Terry (Kathy-Anne) Chapman, Austin, TX; two
sisters, Julie Cutt, Fernandina Beach, FL, Libby (Bill) Gorski,
Yulee, FL and a brother, Pat (Jo) Sullivan, Chula Vista, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Margaret graduated from the Academy of Our Lady in Peoria, then
pursued her undergraduate studies in economics at
Bradley University in Peoria. She received her Ph.D. in
economics from University of Illinois in Champaign
Urbana.
She was a professor of economics at Illinois Wesleyan University
in Bloomington from 1977-2007. Margaret taught every course
that the department offered throughout her career. She also
wrote a book on the local economic impact that occurred with the
Mitsubishi Plant, and chaired the economics department at IWU for a
number of years.
Margaret was a long time member and trainer of the Town and
Country Kennel Club in Bloomington where she trained two
championship agility dogs. In addition to being a member of
the kennel club, she was also a Professor Emerita at Illinois
Wesleyan University.
She was an avid reader of mystery novels, played classical
piano, was an avid swimmer and loved Sudoku. Margaret was an
animal lover her whole life.
