Maribeth Simpson

Maribeth Simpson, 71, of Roanoke, passed away at 1:37 p.m., Saturday, August 7, at her home.

She was born November 17, 1949 in Peoria, IL to Drell and Gertrude (Toniny) Cox.  She married Oliver Simpson, Jr. in 1971 in Peoria.  He died in May of 2005.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son Shane Simpson, one step-son Ronnie Simpson; two grandsons Marty Pitts and Camden Simpson; and granddaughter Sarah Bowen.

She is survived by two sons, Timothy (Robin) Simpson of Germantown Hills, Kenny (Loretta) Simpson of Arkansas; two daughters, Karen (Darwin) Kell of Carlyle, AR, Sheri (Bob) Thurman of California; one sister, Mardell (Ed) Reising of Haslet, TX; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Maribeth graduated from Woodruff H.S. in 1967. She worked for Bell Telephone 1950-57. She was self-employed as a private caregiver for many years. She was also a Mary Kay consultant. She was a two-time cancer survivor, 2005 and 2020, and had a very strong faith in God. She enjoyed going to the Par-A-Dice Riverboat Casino and bowled for many years with her husband in East Peoria bowling leagues.  Most of all, she loved spending time with friends and family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke.  Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 prior to services at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Clayton Township Cemetery, Benson, IL.
