Marilyn Bechtel
Roanoke- Marilyn K. Bechtel, 78, of Roanoke, IL passed away at 3:56 pm on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Home.
She was born on August 31, 1938 in Peoria, IL to Ivan and Mary Utsinger Wright. She married Jack Bechtel on November 8, 1958 in Peoria. He passed away on July 2, 2014.
Surviving are her children, Mark (Chris) Bechtel of Menomonie, WI; Vanessa (Steve) Walker of Bloomington, IL; Jacqueline "Jackie" Kauffold of Mt. Zion, IL; six grandchildren, Megan (Richard) Neeman, Kaila and Kolton Walker, Ryan, Calleen, and Zachary Wrigley; two great grandsons, Robert and Kayden Wrigley; and two sisters, Norma Darlene McClernon of Peoria and Barb (Chuck) Steenrod of Roanoke.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Cliff Wright.
Marilyn and her husband Jack owned and operated A & W and Bechtel's Family Dining for 40 years. They also owned and operated the Oak Ranch Motel for many years all located in Roanoke.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and it's altar and rosary society. Marilyn was an active member of the Cursillo Community. She was a proud Bradley Alumni. Marilyn was known for her cooking and gave many cooking classes to the women in the community.
Funeral mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 22 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke. Fr. Eugene Radosevich will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Roanoke Township Cemetery. Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke or to the St. Jude Children's Hospital. Online condolences may be sent to the family at knappjohnsonharris.com.
