Marvin Aeschleman
Roanoke - Marvin L. Aeschleman, 83, of Roanoke, passed away at 9:40 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
He was born on November 6, 1934 in Roanoke, IL to Albert and Tillie Harms Aeschleman. He married Sandra Springer on June 17, 1983 in Las Vegas, NV.
Surviving are his children, Mark (Donna) Aeschleman of Roanoke; Lori (Mark) Shepard of El Paso; three grandchildren, Corey (Libby) Aeschleman; Scott Shepard; Seth Shepard; 5 great grandchildren; two step children, Terri (Brian) Kleen; Ron (Zahra) Johnson; five step grandchildren; one brother, Harley (Marlene) Aeschleman of Roanoke; and one sister, Mildred Wehrli of Roanoke.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister Dolly Mae.
Marvin proudly served his country and was an Army veteran.
Marvin worked at Ulrich manufacturing in Roanoke for 13 years and then he and his brother Harley were co-owner and operator of Aeschleman's gas station in Roanoke for 15 years. Marvin was then elected numerous times and served 24 years as the Roanoke Township road commissioner before retiring in 2000.
He volunteered on the Roanoke Fire Department for many years retiring as fire chief. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Benson.
Marvin loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and was a great fisherman. He loved food and drink and had a passion for cooking.
Per his request cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 5, 2018 at 11:00 am at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke. Pastor Daniel Tuhy will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10-11 prior to the services at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend its thanks to the staff at the Apostolic Christian Home in Roanoke and the Hospice team, Sarah and Janet for the loving care that was given to Marvin for his short time there.
