Melvin L. Schroeder
Roanoke - Melvin L. Schroeder, 72, of Roanoke, passed away at 1:27 pm on Saturday September 2, 2017 at his residence.
He was born on August 24, 1945 in Granite City, IL to Raymond H.H. and Magarita M. Uphoff Schroeder. He married Linda Baker on December 16, 1972 in Secor, IL. She survives.
Also surviving is one son, Keith (Casey) Schroeder of Morton; one daughter, Julie (Joe) Pisel of Benson; three grandchildren, Austin Schroeder; Haley Pisel, Connor Pisel; one sister, Donna (Everett) Stine of Texas; two sister-in-laws, Celia Schroeder of Secor; Sue Baker of Tremont; and many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, David, John and Raymond Schroeder and one sister, Rose Nenigar.
An Army veteran, Melvin served his country during the Vietnam War.
Melvin worked at Caterpillar for 32 years retiring in 1999.
Melvin loved camping, woodworking, and enjoyed any time he could spend with his grandchildren and his family. He especially loved playing catch with his beloved dog Abby. He will be greatly missed.
He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Secor where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday September 9th. Rev. Michael Peters will officiate. Visitation will be from 10-11 prior to the services at the church. Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded.
