Melvin M. Weyeneth
Washington- Melvin M. Weyeneth, 92, of Washington, IL formerly of
Metamora and Roanoke, IL passed away at 8:28 am on Wednesday, July
10, 2013 at Grand Victorian Place in Washington, IL.
He was born on September 30, 1920 in Roanoke, IL a son of Silas
"Jim" and Laura E. Hodel Weyeneth. He married Leona Roth on
May 27, 1944 in Columbia, SC. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Keith Weyeneth of Morton, IL; Merle
(Mary) Weyeneth of Metamora, IL; two grandsons, Karl and Kyle
Weyeneth; two sisters, Marilyn Roth of Roanoke, IL; Dorothy (John)
Hoerr of Peoria, IL; and one sister-in-law, Sarena Weyeneth of
Roanoke, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Jim and Clarke
Weyeneth; and one brother, Don "Doc" Weyeneth.
An Army veteran, he served his country during WWII in the anti air
craft artillery division. He was a member of the Metamora
American Legion Post #89.
Melvin worked as a lifelong dairy and grain farmer retiring in
1995. He was a founding board member of the Woodford County
Special Ed in the late 1950's. He had served on and was past
president on the school boards for Metamora Grade School and High
School.
He was a member of the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Church where
funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, July 14,
2013. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will
be held on Saturday from 3-6 pm at the Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral
Home in Roanoke and from 12-12:45 pm before services at the
church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
