Benson - Milford Baumann, 86, of Benson. IL, died peacefully at 10:13 am, Sunday February 5, 2017 at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke with his family by his side.
Milford was born in Benson, IL to Theodore and Angeline "Lena" Flohr Baumann on November 14, 1930. He married Virginia Mae Haase on August 5, 1951 at the Benson St. Paul Lutheran Church, happily celebrating 65 years of marriage.
Milford is survived by his wife, Virginia; sons Larry (Dana Brehm) Baumann, St. Louis, MO and Gary Baumann of Benson; sisters, Engeline "Angie" Haase and Marcia (Duane) Hartzler; sister-in-law, Alice Baumann and loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister, Geneva Thompson; brother, Everett; brothers-in-law Lloyd Haase, DeWayne Haase, Calvin Haase; and Virgil Haase.
Milford had a long, successful career in Inventory Control and Scheduling at the East Peoria Plant of Caterpillar for 43 years retiring in 1990. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served in the Army for 3 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 454 in Benson for over 62 years and served on the Benson Fire Department for 26 years.
He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural Benson where funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday February 8th. Pastor Gabriel Baumgardner will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and from 9:30 - 10:30 Wednesday prior to the services at the church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military honors.
Memorials may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church, Benson, IL; the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke, IL; or to the Benson American Legion Post 454.
