Roanoke - Nellie M. Brunson, 85, of Roanoke, passed away at 8:25 am on Saturday February 27, 2016 at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
She was born on March 15, 1930 in Eureka, IL to Phillip Ray and Mayme Louise Rupple Heston. She married Loren A. Brunson on June 14, 1952 in Eureka, IL. He passed away on June 30, 1998.
Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie (Howard) Christian of Eureka; Colleen (Mike) Bailey of East Peoria; two sons, James Brunson of Roanoke; Allen Brunson Sr. of Rock Island; one sister, Catherine Pline of Lyons, MI; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, and one great grandson.
Nellie was a homemaker and loved her family. She loved to crochet and do embroidering and enjoyed doing word puzzles and playing yahtzee. An avid reader, she was a member of the Harlequin Readers Service.
Nellie was a member of the Eureka Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday March 2 at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Olio Cemetery in Eureka.
