Norman Seckler

Norman P. Seckler, 63, of Roanoke, passed away at 5:53 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2017 at Unity Point Health Methodist.

He was born June 18, 1954 in Peoria to Everett E. and Mildred (Donohue) Seckler. He married Sharon S. Springer on July 7, 1973 in Eureka. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Norman Paul (Rachel) Seckler, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Elizabeth (Chris) Leman of Washington, IL; six grandchildren; three brothers, Arnold of Cazenovia, Steve of Minonk, Dennis (Suzie) of Metamora; and five sisters, Edna Marchand of Peoria, Candace (Jack) Miller of Foley, AL, Mary Shawback of Lostant, IL, Theresa Seckler of East Peoria and Jean (Dave) Stivers of Washburn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John "Jack" Seckler, Bruce Seckler and one sister, Lois Seckler.

Norman started working at DMI, which later became CNH, in March of 1976. Most of his time there he was working as a tool maker, building welding fixtures. He retired from CNH in September of 2013.

He was a quiet gentle man, faithful in all that he did. He enjoyed spending time with his family, building go-carts for family and friends and playing his dulcimer. He was a member of Christ Reformed Baptist Church in Metamora. Norman went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 1, 2017.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Bethany Community Church in Washington, IL. Pastor Kent Kloter will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and one-half hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in Roanoke Township Cemetery.
