Ramona DesCarpentrie

April 13, 1930 — November 4, 2015

Ramona J. DesCarpentrie of Roanoke, IL, passed away at 10:07 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL surrounded by loved ones . She was a loving woman of faith as she went to the Lord.

Mona was born in Roanoke, IL on April 13, 1930 the daughter of Frank and Julia Leuriot DesCarpentrie. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Lloyd, sister in law Lois, her sister Olma F. Bussone, brother in law Joseph T. Bussone, and her fiance' Ira Caldwell of rural Roanoke.

Mona, a lifelong resident of Roanoke, loved her family, her friends, her church and her community. She was a remarkable singer and loved singing with the choir of the Roanoke United Methodist Church for decades.

Mona owned and operated "the Coffee Cup" restaurant in Roanoke and spent decades as an employee of the Apostolic Christian Nursing Home in Eureka where she was loved by the residents and staff of the home alike.

She loved reading her Bible, fishing, watching the Chicago Cubs and Bradley basketball on TV, going out, traveling with family and friends, and hosting her friends at daily early morning coffee sessions. She treated everyone she met with grace, kindness and charity. She prayed for and helped everyone she could, as another way of serving the Lord.

Mona is survived by four nephews; Frank J. Bussone (Lisa Cantor-Bussone) of Germantown Hills, Lloyd DesCarpentrie (Julie) of Vermont, Russ DesCarpentrie (Jane) of Secor, Stan DesCarpentrie (Jane) of Eureka, ten great nephews and nieces, 25 great-great nephews and nieces, plus many cousins and countless friends. All her survivors were richly blessed by the selfless example of her life. Mona was called by many, "the truest person we know."

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the Roanoke United Methodist Church. Pastor Ken Sloan-Couch will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the church from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke is in charge of funeral arrangements. Burial will be in Roanoke Township Cemetery.
