Benson- Robert W. Harms, 94, of Benson, passed away at 11:25 pm on Monday, November 6, 2017, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
He was born on April 27, 1923 in Benson, IL to Harm W. and Rachel M. Schneider Harms. He married Kathryn Maack on December 6, 1953 in LaRose, IL. She passed away on February 19, 2013.
Surviving is his son, Jerry (Debbie) Harms of Roanoke; two grandsons, Dan (Beth) Harms of Roanoke; Steven (Colleen) Harms of Gibsonia, PA; one sister, Florene Lawrence of Bloomington, IL; and five great grandchildren, Leyton, Sawyer, Remington, Finley, and Arthur Harms.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, James Harms, and one sister, Ruth Hauptman.
Bob farmed in the Benson area all of his life and also ran a custom shelling businesses out of his home on the farm.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Benson where he had served on the the church board and was a past president. He also was a past board member of the Benson Farmer's COOP and was a member of the Woodford County Farm Bureau.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday November 10, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Pastor Daniel Tuhy will officiate. Visitation will be from 9-10 am prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at Clayton Township Cemetery in Benson. Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke is assisting the family with arrangements.
