Bloomington_ Robert N. "Bob"
Nichols, 67, of Bloomington, passed away
at 2:51 a.m. on Sunday, October 14,
2012 at Advocate BroMenn Medical
Center in Normal. Funeral services
will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October
19, 2012 at First Baptist Church in
Bloomington with Rev. Thomas G. Bayes
officiating.Visitation will be from
4_7 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2012 at First
Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers
memorials may be made to the
Beverly Farm Foundation, 6301
Humbert Road, Godfrey, Illinois 62035 in
Bob's name. Beverly Farm is a
residential community for disabled adults.
Bob was born January 4, 1945 in
Peoria, the son of Grace Nichols. He
married Elizabeth Janke Nichols on
March 21, 1992 in Bloomington, IL. She
survives.
In addition to his wife Elizabeth,
Bob is survived by three sons, Kent
(Brenda) Nichols of Bloomington;
Andy (Amy E.) Nichols of Springfield;
Matt (Amy C.) Nichols of
Bloomington; two stepsons, Adam Dew of
Bloomington; Carson (Shannon) Dew
of Normal; one daughter, Cindy
Bevers of Normal; four grandsons,
Logan Nichols, Adam James, Dallas
James, Evan Nichols; seven
granddaughters, Taylor Nichols, Kierstyn
Bevers, Madalyn Nichols, Olivia
Nichols, Mackenzie Nichols, Alexis Nichols,
Kenley Nichols; one great grandson,
Vincent James; two brothers, Walter Meeks
III of Peoria and Bruce Meeks of
Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his
mother and one brother, David Meeks.
Bob retired from United Parcel
Service (UPS) after 26 years of
service. He also worked for Purity
Baking Company of Bloomington and
most recently worked as a Unit 5
school bus driver in his retirement.
He and his wife were loving
caregivers to their many animals on their
farm. They raised alpacas and were
involved in many aspects of the
alpaca community. They had their
own alpaca business, Stars and Stripes
Alpacas.
Bob was a loving husband, father,
grandfather and great grandfather.
He was helpful to all whom he met.
He was especially fond of and
grateful for all of his route
customers while driving for UPS.
