Robert L. Thomas

Normal-Robert L. Thomas 99, of
Normal, passed away at 6:00 a.m. Thursday, August 23,2012 at
Advocate BroMenn Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m.
Monday, August 27, 2012 at the First Baptist Church, 2502 East
College Avenue, Bloomington with Rev. Tom Bayes officiating.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till the time of service at the
church on Monday. Burial will be in Park Hill Mausoleum. Memorials
may be made to the First Baptist Church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman
Memorial Home in Bloomington is handling arrangements.

Robert was born January 14, 1913 in
Randolph, IL., to John B. and Bertha (Grautman) Thomas. He married
Lucille C. Emmert on September 8, 1939 in Shirley, IL. He enjoyed
the 73 years with Lucille, they adored each other.

Surviving is his wife, Lucille of
Normal; one daughter, Carol A. Montgomery of Minneapolis, Minn; one
grandson, Mark C. Johnson and one great grandson, Jacob M. Johnson
both of Bloomington; two granddaughters, Dr. Michelle L. (Aaron)
Kush of Columbia, MD ; Angela C. (Steve) Kauffman of Columbus, OH;
several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his
parents, one son, Larry C. Thomas, four sisters and two
brothers.

He graduated in 1934 from Heyworth
High School.

Robert retired from General
Electric in 1975. After his retirement he worked as a part time
crop hail adjuster and in the library at Illinois State University
in Normal .

He was a member of the First
Baptist Church in Bloomington.

Robert was an avid sports fan and
enjoyed driving his car and traveling. He loved going to church and
spending time with his family.
